Blog commenting we all do it as bloggers. But, I saw something on oDesk yesterday that just made me sick. People still pay people to either spam a bunch of high PR blogs or hire people to comment on blogs for them. I don’t know about you, but when I do blog commenting I want my name on everything I write so I don’t want some person to comment for me.
Furthermore, the whole reason on why I blog comment is to build a relationships with other bloggers. I see people that do this all the time leaving low value comments just for that dofollow backlink. These relationships could turn into joint ventures, adswaps, ect. You are really messing up if you are paying people to spam on your behalf or leave comments for you.
For instance, there is this really big name blogger in your niche that you really want a backlink from. It would be stupid to post on everyone of his/her post and with something lame like, “man you really nailed it on this post.” Believe it or not successful bloggers can detect when people are just trying to get links from their site to get more exposure to their blog. I usually ban people that do that to my blog.
A better alternative would be to leave a a couple good quality comments and ask a question or provide some real value to what their post is about. This doesn’t mean link dropping or anything like that, but put some real thought into it. You will see much better results that way and bloggers remember those people that left a great comment and really helped their blog.
So, what I do is target 4-5 people per week that I would like to guest post on. First, I will start off by leaving some quality comments. Usually, they have CommentLuv Premium installed on their blog so it makes it easy for me to build backlinks to my internal pages. After a couple weeks of say leaving 4-5 comments I will then contact them via their contact form and ask if they would mind if I wrote a guest post for them. Always ask what they want on their blog and you will get a better response rate.
If you use my method you will be happy with the results you get. Happy blog commenting, but please do yourself a favor and do it correctly.
